Toyota remapping, mapped to your exact engine
Toyota diesels are bought to work for a long time: Hiluxes on farms and building sites, Land Cruisers towing, Proace vans on the trade. The D-4D engines are mapped cautiously from the factory, partly because they have to run on fuel of every quality in every climate. Here, with decent fuel and the work you actually do, there is sensible headroom to use.

Toyota remapping FAQs
Will a remap shorten the life of a Hilux?
Not if it is written properly and the vehicle is in good order. We stay inside the engine's safe limits rather than chasing a headline number, and the diagnostic check before we start is there to spot a problem first. A worn or poorly serviced engine is a different conversation, and we would rather have it before the work than after.
Does it help when I am loaded or towing?
That is where you feel it. Extra torque in the middle of the rev range means the engine holds a gear up a hill instead of hunting, and pulls away from a gateway or a slipway without as much effort. Your towing and payload limits are unchanged — they come from the vehicle's plate, not from the software.
Do you have to take the ECU out?
Usually not. Most of these can be read and written through the diagnostic socket while the ECU stays in the vehicle. Some need the ECU removing and reading on the bench, which is still done at your address but takes longer. We will tell you which yours is when you book, so there are no surprises.
Will you come out to a farm or a site?
Yes — the service is mobile right across Devon and Somerset, from Bristol down to Plymouth, north to Barnstaple and west over the Cornwall border. A yard, a farm or a site is no problem as long as the vehicle is parked somewhere safe to work. If you are not sure whether you are in our patch, ring and ask before you plan around it.
