Audi remapping FAQs
Will a remap upset my S tronic or DSG gearbox?
No. The engine map is written to stay inside the torque the gearbox is built for, and we tell you if your car is one where we would not go further. If you want sharper, firmer shifts as well, that is a separate gearbox (TCU) map and we will say plainly whether yours can take one.
Does quattro change what is possible?
Not the software, but it does change how the car uses the extra torque. Four driven wheels put power down more evenly, so a quattro usually feels more settled than the same engine in a front-wheel-drive car. The figures still come from your engine, year and gearbox, not from the badge on the back.
I have a service plan at the dealer — is that a problem?
Keep servicing it wherever you like. What you should know is that a dealer software update can overwrite your map — if that happens, ring us and we will put it back on. We can also return the car to its original file before a dealer visit if you prefer. Tell your insurer either way.
Will my MPG actually improve?
It can, but it depends on you. More torque low down means fewer gear changes and less throttle for the same progress, which is where a saving comes from. Use the extra performance every time you pull away and it will not. We will not quote you a figure, because the honest answer is that driving style decides it.
